The financial situation of the writer's widow could be at the center of this initiative
Lucette Destouches, the widow of the 105-year-old writer, has just authorized the re-edition of the three anti-Semitic pamphlets of her husband, Louis-Ferdinand Céline, revealed last week the monthly l'Incorrect.
Céline had always refused the reissue of the pamphlets, initially published in 1937, 1938 and 1941.
It could appear in Les Cahiers de la NRF or out of collection, the final decision has not yet been made. The prefacer should be Pierre Assouline, a leading specialist in the subject, reported Tuesday theExpress.
In the other French-speaking countries, the republication of the pamphlets had already been authorized. Indeed, L'Express recalls that the volume has been on sale in Quebec since 2012.
The financial reason could be at the center of this initiative because the condition of the widow of Louis-Ferdinand Céline requires permanent medical assistance, which has a high financial cost that the copyrights of related books could not meet.
