At the time of the attack, Frédérique was on the terrace. About fifteen customers were installed there. The young woman had taken her service a little over an hour earlier. "I heard squealing tires," she recalls. At first I thought the driver wanted to impress friends of his. Then I saw his face, he was smiling. He was a confident man."

“A customer shouted: Neutralize the driver! »

The shock threw Frédérique from the terrace inside the pizzeria. "I don't remember if I was hit by the car or by a flying table," continues the waitress. When I looked up, there were bodies on the ground, blood everywhere. I also saw the legs of the little one who died.

The young woman assures that the person responsible for the attack sought to flee. “A customer shouted: Neutralize the driver, neutralize the driver! He wanted to go back but a flowerpot prevented him from doing so. Frédérique left the premises through the back exit of the pizzeria. She found refuge in the Chinese restaurant a few meters away, which the firefighters transformed into a makeshift care area.

“I saw that the mother was told that her daughter had died. I heard her scream." Jonas, Frédérique's brother, arrived on the scene in the minutes following the tragedy. "We didn't hear what he was saying but saw the reaction of the lady, we understood immediately." Frédérique was first taken to Coulommiers hospital. Her right elbow injury required a night transfer to that of Meaux, where she was operated on on Tuesday. The waitress also suffered a broken right leg and a minor gash in one eye.

So much physical damage that does not weigh heavily against the psychological consequences of such an attack. "It's hard," breathes Frédérique, who joined her colleagues after leaving the hospital. It was at the pizzeria Cesena that the young woman completed her apprenticeship last year. “I hope to be able to come back to work there,” she says.
